Helen Smithson

Helen Smithson, 88, of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Kettering Medical Center.  
 
She was born Jan. 15, 1935 in Harveysburg, the daughter of the late Clive DeBoard and Marjorie Moran DeBoard.
 
Helen was a faithful servant of God, showing her faith through love and sacrifice for her family and acts of kindness and generosity to many others. She attended Bethany Baptist Church, where she was involved in many church activities.
 
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Smithson, whom she married Aug. 11, 1960; three daughters, Lorna Jean (Mac) Kiser, Joetta Smithson and Cyndi (Jerry) Merriman; nine grandchildren, Bryan (Marilin) Fisher, Shara Cox, Mallory (John) Dittly, Tiffany Ailshire, Brandon (Cheryl) Kennison, Liberty (Rick) Goodman, Julie (Tim) Kelley, Emily Holden and Jared (Liz) Merriman; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Mae Williams; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Marian and Fred Elam, Mary and Sarah.
 
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Kay Milner Fisher and Denise Milner Ailshire; three brothers, Clive DeBoard Jr., Dick DeBoard and Maurice DeBoard; two sisters, Janet Sword and Barbara Hillman; son-in-law, Kenny Ailshire; and her stepmother, Lola DeBoard.
 
Services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Miami-Corwin Cemetery, Waynesville.
 
Friends will be received Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington.
 
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church, PO Box 59, Clarksville 45113.
