Gerald L. Jenkins
Gerald L. Jenkins, 72, of Leesburg, passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2024.
He was born Feb. 26, 1952 in Charleston, W.Va., the son of the late William and Margie (Russell) Jenkins,
He was a dedicated carpenter and beloved family man and spent his life honing his craft and sharing his warmth with those around him. Gerald proudly served as a cabinet maker and installation specialist during his long tenure with Local 200 Ohio Carpenters and Local 411 Carpenters Labor. He took great pride in his work, crafting beautiful pieces with skill and precision. Even after retirement, Gerald found joy in piddling with his carpenter tools, indulging his creative spirit and sharing his passion for woodworking.
Gerald was deeply rooted in his faith, where he was a member of the Northview Baptist Church finding comfort and strength in his relationship with the Lord. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and dedication to his craft and family.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Barbara A. (Hopkins) Jenkins, whom he married on March 16, 1973; and a loving father to his son, Steve (Heather) Jenkins of Hilliard. Gerald's legacy will continue to live on through his cherished granddaughter, Gillian Jenkins, who held a special place in his heart. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his siblings, William "Gene" (Mary) Jenkins of Hilliard, Ron (Lynn) Jenkins of Ashley, Jeff (Peggy) Jenkins of Plain City, Donna (Jeff) Blamer of Hilliard and Patricia (Calvin) Bradford of Galloway; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at Northview Baptist Church, 1139 Northview Drive, Hillsboro, on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Doug Saunders officiating. Prior to the service, a gathering of family and friends will take place at the church beginning at noon. Family and friends whose lives were touched by Gerald are invited to join in remembering and celebrating a life well-lived.
