George E. Walker

George E. Walker, 81, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
 
He was born Feb. 26, 1943 in Greenfield, the son of Charles L. and Zella Faye (Purdy) Walker.
 
George served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was owner of Walker Auto Sales in Greenfield for over 30 years.
 
He is survived by his companion, Mary M. Hopkins; two sons, Tom (Tracey) Richards of Greenfield and Scott Walker of Greenfield; one daughter, Patricia Gibbs of Hillsboro; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lou (Weaver) Walker on Feb. 1, 2011; one son, George W. Walker on Feb. 8, 2023; two brothers, Joe Walker and Jim Walker; one sister, Violet Stroud; and both parents.
 
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield beginning with a Veterans Appreciation service. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.  
 
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the funeral home.
