Gary L. Hester

Gary L. Hester, 72, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
 
He was born Sept. 28, 1951 in Ross County, the son of Harold and Nora (Spurgeon) Hester.
 
Gary was a former employee of Collins Meat Packing of Greenfield, Greenfield Research and HLT of Wilmington. He was a member of the F.O.E. #1325.
 
He is survived by his wife, Emily B. (Meredith) Hester, whom he married May 25, 1991; children, Quintin Hester of Hillsboro, Adam Hester of Leesburg, Ashley (Arlyn) Hester of Leesburg, Kyle (Cindy) Hester of Grove City, Amy Hester of Leesburg and D’Anna (Steve) Jenkins of Washington C.H.; stepchildren, Stephen (Angela) McKinley of Tennessee, Shane McKinley of Leesburg and Tonya Sommer of Cincinnati; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Warren Hester of Leesburg; two sisters, Janet Jorvanovic of Greenfield and Ruth Cheatwood of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Randy Meredith.
 
He was preceded in death by two toddlers; seven sisters, Martha (Jake) Barnhart, Mary (Kenneth) Kingery, Fern (Kenneth) Tapp, Elizabeth (William) Hayden, Viola (Hobert) Cassidy, Violet Koch and Dorothy (Richard) Watson; two brothers, Lawrence (Linda) Hester and Dwight Hester; and both parents.
 
Funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Wayne Combs and Pastor Jeff Barnhart officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.  
 
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
