Freda (Jeanette) McLaughlin Gossett

Freda (Jeanette) McLaughlin Gossett, 91, of Hillsboro passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 at her home. 

Jeanette was born on Aug. 14, 1933 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Russell and Lillian (Roberts) McLaughlin. 

She was a graduated of Hillsboro High School in 1951 and was a member of the Union Church of Christ. She was a farm wife who loved to help on the farm, working in the garden, taking care of her flowers, enjoying canning and freezing garden vegetables and fruit, taking meals to the field and mowing the yard; even at 90 years old. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. She loved her family, and they loved her.

She is survived by four children, Dana (Elise) Gossett, Gary (Jenifer) Gossett, Tim Gossett and Pamela (Rob) Jackson; two grandsons, Michael (Janey) Gossett and David Gossett; two step-granddaughters, Sara (Clinton) Throckmorton and Rachel Marie Jackson; seven step-great grandchildren, Zoey, Zachary, Konner, Riley, Isabella, Patrick and Tristan; two brothers, John “Jake” (Lois) McLaughlin and Gene McLaughlin; best friend and sister, Lou Jean Dixon; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Charlie.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Gossett whom she married on Jan. 28, 1956; brother, Roberts Predsbee McLaughlin; and sister-in-laws, Dolores and Kay McLaughlin. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Union Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Ruble Cemetery in Pricetown. 

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church.
