Elmina S. “Susie” House, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.  

She was born Nov. 1, 1938 in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Harold and Cecil (Wardlow) Harris.  

Susie is survived by three children, Timothy (Loretta) House of Fayetteville, Debra Westfall and Diana House, both of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Cassandra (Christopher) Easley of Wilmington, Stephanie (Cliff Rogers) Westfall and Jennifer Westfall, both of Hillsboro, and Shannon (Krista) Shipley of Shade, Ohio; 14 great-grandchildren, Madison, Braxton, Andersen, Memphis, Carter, Norah, Emma, Carter, Dreson, Leah, Kade, Garrett, Coal and Axle; three nieces, Kim (Mike) Collins, Karen (Dan) Chambers and Kathy (Sam) Taynor; as well as her beloved “Molly.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold House, who passed away March 29, 2020; a grandson, Harold Chance; and a brother, James Harris.  

Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, followed by her graveside service at 2 p.m. in the Strange Cemetery.
