Ellie Weems Simmons

Ellie Weems Simmons, 87, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in a local healthcare facility.

Born in Greenfield, Ohio, Mrs. Weems was a longtime resident of Chattanooga.

She was owner and operator of Ellie Simmons Allstate Agency and a member of Graceworks Church and was formerly in the sanctuary choir.

Ellie was an avid cook and was a Master Bridge player. She will be remembered as a loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Craig (Teresa) Simmons of Chattanooga, Jeff (Debra) Simmons of Cincinnati and Tony Simmons of Red Bank, Tenn.; sister, Katy Boatman Taylor of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, Tara Ealy, Cole Simmons, Midi Hudson, Allison Simmons, Kelsey Frias, Olivia Simmons and Jack Simmons; seven great-grandchildren, Logan Simmons, Noah Simmons, Ava Simmons, Christian Ealy, Ellie Hudson, Reymond Frias and Everett Frias; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Helen Snyder; brother, Johnny Snyder; and sister, Candice Allen; and former husband, R. Gary Simmons.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 10 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tenn. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 10 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mia Pittman-Head officiating.
