Elizabeth Ann Murray
Elizabeth Ann Murray, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 at The Laurels of Blanchester, surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 11, 1933 in Labascus, Ky., the daughter of the late Addison and Stella (Sallee) McDonald.
Elizabeth worked at RCA in Cincinnati for seven years. She was a faithful member of the Allensburg Church of Christ and Everglades Community Church, participating in many activities within each church. A
devoted wife and partner, Elizabeth, alongside her beloved husband Glennis, embarked on their life's journey together March 20, 1953. They not only built a beautiful family, they also nurtured a fruitful business and a thriving farm, demonstrating their commitment to hard work, unity and resilience. Elizabeth was a beacon of love and support for her five children, always providing an open heart and a listening ear. Her strength, wisdom, and warmth made her the heart of her family, and she will be deeply missed.
Ever the lover of life's simple pleasures, Elizabeth had a passion for recreational activities that brought joy and serenity. She found solace in the peaceful rhythm of fishing, the expressive freedom of painting and the joyful energy of dancing. These hobbies reflected her inner passion, creativity and zest for life.
Elizabeth was also a seasoned traveler, with the sunny shores of Florida holding a special place in her heart. The adventures she shared with Glennis in their favorite vacation spot are cherished memories that will continue to live on. Elizabeth's light may no longer shine in our world, but her legacy of love, unity and enduring spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 71 years, Glennis Murray; five children, Mark (Jan) Murray of Fayetteville, Sheila (Randy) Fawley of Lynchburg, Beth (Richard) Brownstead of Glasgow, Ky., Amy (Thomas) Curry of Rocky Face, Ga. and Steele (Kristin) Murray of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren, TC (Dede) Curry, Todd (Elizabeth) Murray, Brandon (Kristy) Fawley, Colt (Erica) Brownstead, Jennifer (Jacob) Pierce, Tyler (Shawna) Murray, Aaron (Marissa) Murray, Keaton (Emily) Brownstead, Austin (Xavier) Fawley and Tori (Anthony) Jones; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca Baldock of Yosemite, Ky.; brother-in-law, Jimmy Murray of Winchester, Ky.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Murray of Morehead, Ky.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Anderson; four brothers-in-law, Edward (Eunice) Murray, Lowell Murray, Gene Baldock and Thurman Anderson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Allensburg Church of Christ, 7105 Abernathy Road, Lynchburg 45142. Funeral services will take place following visitation Thursday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow services in the Troutwine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s name to the Allensburg Church of Christ, 7105 Abernathy Road, Lynchburg 45142. The Davis-Turner Funeral Home is serving the family.
