Edith Evelyn Powell
Edith Evelyn Powell, 94, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2023 at the Crestwood Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born June 15, 1929, in Lexington, Ky., the daughter of the late William and Daphne (Clark) Quillen.
Edith was a member of the Common Ground Community Church. She loved to read, and she was known as an amazing prayer warrior for all her family and loved ones. She will be deeply missed.
Edith is survived by her two sons, Jerry (Sandy) Powell of Hillsboro and Joe Powell of Hillsboro; two stepchildren, Mike (Mary) Powell of Algonquin, Ill., and Carol Soulier of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Casey Powell of Hillsboro, David (Shelby) Powell of Commercial Point and Cody (Morgan) Powell of Winchester; five stepgrandchildren, Sandi Soulier, Melissa Soulier, Megan (Jordan) Manning, Marissa Powell and Brian (Alexandria) Helminski; nine great-grandchildren, Parker Helminski, Hudson Helminski, Millie Manning, Charlie Manning, Brayleigh Powell, Paisleigh Powell, Axel Payne-Powell, Azimay Powell and Adilene Powell; a niece, Sylvia Spurlock; and special friend, Melissa Fuchs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayborn Powell in 1988; a sister, Doris Wireman; a brother, Bill Quillen; stepson, Charlie Powell, and special aunt and uncle, Emma Lee and Jerry Quillen.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. following visitation on Thursday.
