Dr. Monica Aguila Besana Salido

Dr. Monica Aguila Besana Salido, 84, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on May 4, 1940, in Roxas City, Capiz, Philippines, the daughter of the late Florencio Bermejo Besana and Carolina Zorilla Aguila Besana. 

Dr. Salido graduated with a doctor of medicine degree from Southwestern University in Cebu City in 1964 and soon embarked on a new chapter in her life when she moved to the United States on May 26, 1966. She embraced her new homeland and officially became a citizen in 1977. She dedicated her professional life to caring for children, serving with both passion and expertise in pediatric medicine. 

Dr. Salido and her husband, Isidro "Sid," moved to Hillsboro in 1978, and she owned and operated Children’s Medical Clinic for over 27 years. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless families, making a significant impact on the communities she served. As an enthusiastic fan of HGTV and "Dancing with the Stars," she had a knack for finding joy in the little things. She was known for her love of shopping and spending countless moments in prayer for her family and friends, here and departed. 

Dr. Salido loved traveling and exploring the globe with her loving husband, Sid. Their adventures together, along with her enduring love for children, were the foundations of her rich and beautiful life. She was a beacon of light and hope in her family, her profession, and amongst her friends. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those left behind. 

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Isidro Seneris Salido, whom she married on Feb. 11, 1970; two children, Caroline (David) Besana Salido Barta of Grove City, and Joan Florence Besana Salido of Westerville; three grandchildren, Elliot Isidro Dortmund, Katherine Besana Salido Dortmund and Brennan Salido Barta; numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and many close extended family members and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Besana Salido; three brothers, Eduardo Aguila Besana, Arturo Aguila Besana, and Wilfredo Aguila Besana; four sisters, Alicia Aguila Besana, Lillian Aguila Besana Inosanto, Pollyana Aguila Besana Relano, Nita Aguila Besana Villanueva, and three infant brothers. 

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 S. High Street, Hillsboro. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon following visitation on Nov. 2 at the church. Father Mike Paraniuk will be the Celebrant and Father Ramon Owera, Concelebrant. 

Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 S. High Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
