Dorothy Grace Parker

Dorothy Grace Parker, 85, of Hillsboro passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.

She was born Feb. 3, 1937 in Foster, Ohio, the daughter of the late Belden and Eleanor (Heineman) Saur.

Dorothy was a 1955 graduate of Morrow High School and earned her bachelor's degrees in horticulture and botany from Michigan State University and the University of Cincinnati, respectively. She was a member of the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the North American Rock Garden Society. In 1984, Dorothy founded and became operator of the Trenoll Rockgarden Nursery in Trenton. Dorothy in her retirement became a legendary crafter of needlework that she shared with her family and friends. She enjoyed rooting for the Cincinnati Reds.

She is survived by her sister, Sarah “Sally” Frydryk of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews, including Sarah (Steve) Hamilton and family of Kentucky, Ronald L. Saur of Texas, Craig (Nanette) Fahrnbach and son, William, of Tennessee, David B. and children Alex and Cheryl of Tennessee, Christopher (Shannon) Fahrnbach and children, Jacob, Nathan, Garrett and Ellie of Ohio and many long-time friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Parker; her daughter, Grace Lynn Dehaan; a brother, Louis B. Saur; and two brothers-in-law, Edmund Frydryk and Joseph Fahrnbach.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6 in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Father Michael Paraniuk will officiate.
