Doris A. Dyer
Doris A. Dyer, 92, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024.
She was born Sept. 21, 1931 in Buford, the daughter of the late Earl E. and Lola Irene (Donohoo) Fender.
Doris was a member of the Danville Church of Christ and the Sonshine Circle at the church. Doris was a dedicated mail carrier for the United States Postal Service (USPS) for over two decades before her retirement. Her commitment to her work had a positive impact on the community of Hillsboro. Apart from her professional life, Doris cherished her hobbies, which included reading, collecting various items and traveling with her family. She had a special fondness for enjoying a nice cold Pepsi Cola.
Doris's presence in the lives of those who knew her will be deeply missed. Her loving nature, kind heart and zest for life will always be remembered and cherished by her family and friends and family.
She is survived two daughters, Cindy (Jim ) Smith and Nancy L. Wilson of Hillsboro; two sons, Michael (Tim Jennings) Dyer of Guntersville, Ala. and John (Tammy) Dyer of Bainbridge; six grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Smith, Courtney (Jim) Garner, Joel Wilson, Amanda (Brady) Kirwan, Adam (Amanda) Dyer and Austin (Nichole) Dyer; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Moore of Hillsboro, one nephew, Doug (Bea) Moore of Columbus; and a host of friends and family.
Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Guy A. Dyer, who passed away Aug. 8, 2018 after 66 years of marriage.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at 1p.m. at the Danville Church of Christ, 4917 state Route 138, Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Danville Church of Christ.
