Donald E. 'Don' Campton

Donald E. “Don” Campton, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Westmoreland Place Nursing Home in Chillicothe.  

He was born June 12, 1938 in West Union, the son of the late Estel Harold and Mary Louise (Maines) Campton.  

Mr. Campton served his country in the Army National Guard, with a total of 23 years of service. Following his time in the service, he worked for Swonger Dairy until its closure, then with Hobart in Hillsboro for many years until his retirement in 2009, when he became a greeter for Walmart for 13 years.  

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda (Achor) Campton. He is also survived by his daughter, Pamela Campton of Hillsboro; three brothers, Ronald (Nancy) Campton of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Clyde (Sandy) Campton and Wayne (Jacalyn) Campton, both of Hillsboro; a first cousin, Harley Maines of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from noon until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
