Dollie F. Sluss, 94, of Hillsboro (formerly of Ripley), died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at Heartland of Hillsboro. She was born on Oct. 27, 1914, the daughter of James Ernest and Isabelle (Elam) Burchwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Watson Sluss on Dec. 28, 1988; one son, Ronald Eugene Sluss; one grandson, Robbie Sluss; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby M. and Marjorie Sluss of Hillsboro, Wilford M. and Grace Sluss of Cheyenne, Wyo., and James Ernest and Jeannette Sluss of Newton, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beatrice J. and Tom Curry of Fla., and Loretta and John Ballein of East Lansing, Mich.; one brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Bonnie Burchwell of Hillsboro; three sisters, Gladys Williams of South Vienna, Thelma Sparks of Lebanon, and Dorothy Horn of Amelia; 20 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 4 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Sardis Cemetery at Sardis, Ky. Friends may call on Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
