Desiree Dawn 'Desi Minaj' Fryar Pleasure

Desiree Dawn “Desi Minaj” Fryar Pleasure, 30, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023 at the Highland District Hospital.

She was born Sept. 15, 1993 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Yolanda “Kay” Clark.

She was the vice president of the Hillsboro Against Racism & Discrimination organization, and she was the youth football cheerleading coach. Desi loved life, and she loved spending time with her four children, husband and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Desi is survived by her husband, Howard Pleasure, whom she married March 5, 2014; her mother, Yolanda “Kay” Clark; four children, Kah’leigha Pleasure, Kyrie Pleasure, Kavion Pleasure and Kendrixx Pleasure; five siblings, Dontay Burns, Terence Cumberland, Blayne (Kayla) Clark, Delayna Clark and Jakwon Clark; grandfather, Michael Captain; grandmother, Lois Captain; two sisters-in-law, Angel Pleasure and Markita Thomas; father-in-law, Howard Pleasure; mother-in-law, Cynthia Thomas; aunts and uncles, Damitra Captain, Shawn Captain Sr. and Edward Cumberland Jr.; special cousin and best friend, Ashley Cumberland Peterson; special cousins, Shawn Captain Jr., Tasha Captain, Jayme Jones and Tyreke Captain; and nieces and nephews, Khloee, Zade, Jaxtyn, Zyaire, Cyrus, Zahnicia, Zayleona, Zaytiouvs and Za’niyah.

Desi was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edward Leroy Cumberland; cousin, Troy Thomas; and two aunts, Myrtle Rowe and Virginia Thomas.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home. Pastor Patricia Burns will be officiating. Burial will follow services in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
