Deloris Evelyn Shoemaker

Deloris Evelyn Shoemaker, 82, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2024.

Deloris was born Jan. 5, 1942 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Donald "Tag" and Sarah "Kate" (Vanpelt) Shoemaker. 

Deloris worked at Famous Recipe Chicken in Xenia, Long John Silver's in Hillsboro, Domino's Pizza in Hillsboro and retired from Walmart in Hillsboro. Deloris was born and raised on a farm and continued farming her lifetime. 

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and James "Jim" Harphant of Xenia; sister-in-law, Violet Shoemaker of Hillsboro; nephews, Jeremy (Joanna) Shoemaker of Hillsboro, Andy (Sabrina) Shoemaker of Hillsboro, William Lee (Jennifer) Harphant of Xenia, Paul Shoemaker of Cincinnati; nieces, Jessie (John) Parker of Hillsboro, Jill Shoemaker; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends, especially her special friend, dog Ruby. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Kay Shoemaker; two brothers, Ronnie "Butch" Shoemaker and Russell "Jack" Shoemaker; twins, Jane and James Shoemaker; sister-in-law, Kitty Shoemaker; and a niece, Stephanie L. (Harphant) Harris. 

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, 

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
