Deborah S. Simmons

Deborah S. Simmons, 71, of Washington Court House, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. 

She was born April 21, 1952 in Washington Court House, the daughter of the late Charles and Garnett Roberts Cottrell. 

Deborah loved spending time outdoors and to play dice games like Yahtzee. Her greatest love was her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, John (Jenifer) Hawkins of Hillsboro, Mindy (John) Houser of Chillicothe and Eric (Sarah) Hawkins of Washington Court House; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister; one brother; and her special companion and friend, Precious. 

She married William E. Simmons, and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2019. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one brother. 

A funeral service for Deborah will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 at the Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield, with Pastor Chris Stokes officiating. She will be buried next to her husband, William Simmons, in South Salem Cemetery. Family and friends can visit with Deborah’s family on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
