David L. Hodson
David L. Hodson, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 26, 2025.
David was born June 7, 1940 in Xenia, the son of the late E.L. and Lucy (Turvy) Hodson.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Verla Hodson; a son, Darly Hodson; step-daughter, Johnna Reck; sister, Nona Harrison; and nephew, Richard West.
David was a 1958 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He went on to train in the U.S. Army reserve after which he worked for the Highland County Engineer until retirement in 1993.
David was active in his community serving on the Highland District Hospital board, serving Paint township as trustee, was a founding member of the Highland County Antique Machinery Club, and attended Fall Creek Friends Church for 25 years where he enjoyed serving the Lord and others.
He leaves behind a loving family, including granddaughter, Madison (Tyler) Cawley; and children, David, Grace, Janell and Josie; sister, Deanna (Sam) West; nephew, Paul (Missy) West and children, Alexis and Hanna; niece, Colarina (Scott) Amos; grandson, Dominic (Kerstin) Hardin and children Lyra and Alaura; stepchildren, Michael Prater and Nora Prater; daughters, Monica Pumpelly and Kela Hodson; and a host of friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held starting at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor H. Scott Latimer officiating.
Graveside service will be held immediately after at the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery. These events will serve to honor David's life and reflect the love he has left behind.
