David Kerns Wilkin

David Kerns Wilkin, 85, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital. 

He was born Feb. 9, 1940 in Highland County, the only son of the late Guy E. and Louise Kerns Wilkin. 

David was a 1958 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial education, which he made a lifelong career of. He was a member of the former Greenfield Masonic Lodge, the National Education Association, and the Ohio Education Association. He loved hunting, fishing, gunsmithing and being outdoors.

On May 31, 1969, he married the former Linda Getz, and she survives. In addition to his wife, David is survived by two daughters, Sarah Wilkin of Wilmington and Katherine (Clint Herbert) Wilkin; two grandsons, Asher and Otto; one sister-in-law, Ruth (John) Arvai; one brother-in-law, John Dehan; dear cousins, Mary Ann Bonds and Rob Young; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. 

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mabel Wilkin; and cousins, Wanda Wilkin Lucas and Tom Young. 

A funeral service for David will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at the Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends are invited to visit with David's family on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
