Darrell 'Bob' Robert Burns

Darrell “Bob” Robert Burns, 77, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2024 with his family by his side.

He was born July 21, 1946 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Charles Herbert Burns and Myrtle Marie (Storer) Burns.

Bob was a faithful member of the Hillsboro Free Will Baptist Church for over 40 years, and he also served as a deacon at the Willettsville CCCU.

Growing up, Bob enjoyed farming, and singing with his family and singing at church. He worked for over 20 years at Cincinnati Milacron, eight years at Schwan’s Company, and he retired after working 11 years as a security guard at Highland District Hospital.

Bob’s favorite sport to play and watch was baseball, and it brought him immense joy watching his children play the sport that he loved. He was a family man, and he enjoyed every minute being his children’s baseball coach as they were growing up. Later in his life, he helped coach the church softball teams, and even though he watched some of the Cincinnati Bengals games, he truly was a Cleveland Browns fan. Bob will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Bob is survived by his four children, Richard (Kelly) Burns of Hillsboro, Tony (Janie) Burns of Leesburg, Daryl (Tiffany) Burns of Lynchburg and Jenny Walters of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren, Kayla (Doug) Conrad, Jordan (Anna) Burns, Heather (Thad) Conover, Courtney (Chris) Ater, Caleb Huff, Hunter Burns, Isaac Burns, Liberty Burns, Josiah Burns, Isiah Walters, Haley Walters, Matthew Walters and Miranda Curlonis; 23 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Russell (Loretta) Burns, Gary Burns, Kenny Burns, Linda (Steve) Burney and Roger (Kim) Burns; a brother-in-law, Whitey Maher and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
