Collette M. Howard

Collette M. Howard, 91, of Columbus, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus with family by her side.  
 
She was born Jan. 23, 1932 in Oak Hill, the daughter of the late Evan Elmer and Gladys E. (Shook) Jones.

On Nov. 12, 1955, she married Harold L. “Spike” Howard, who passed away June 16, 2008.
 
She was a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved the holidays, especially when she would be baking cookies with her girls at Christmas time. She displayed kindness and grace and was willing to talk to anyone. She never met a stranger. Collette loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 
Surviving are her three daughters, Susan (Mark) Anderson of Maineville, Caroline (Kevin) O'Brien of Dublin and Beth (Jim) Wilson of South Lebanon; son, Phil Howard of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Nick (Sarah) Howard, Dylan (Miranda) Howard, Mackenzie O’Brien, Blaine O’Brien and Camden Young; three great-grandchildren, Stella Howard, Sawyer Howard and Zoey Howard; sister, Rose Kellermann; and a lot of nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Collette was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne (Jackie) Jones and Evan Dwight (Shirley) Jones; and a sister, Carolyn (Cecil) McCorkle.
 
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W. Locust St., Wilmington, with Pastor Stan Gockel and Sara Maus officiating. The family invites everyone to wear Ohio State Buckeyes gear to honor Collette's love for the team. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington.
 
Friends will be received Tuesday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
