Chester Dale Shepherd

Chester Dale Shepherd, 77, of Georgetown, formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at Mercy Anderson Hospital.

He was born Jan. 26, 1948 in New Market, the son of the late David Crockett and Dolly Opal (Tolle) Shepherd.

A U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, Chester retired as a maintenance technician for PC Connection.

Surviving are his sons, Chester D. Shepherd Jr. of Wilmington, Chris (Melissa) Shepherd of Leesburg and Ryan (Joanna) Shepherd of Lynchburg; a daughter, Misty (Benjie) Marsh of New Market; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia McKinney of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by three brothers, David Shepherd, Larry Lee Shepherd and James G. Shepherd; and three sisters, Emma Faye Shepherd, Bonnie Swisshelm and Judy Brien.
 
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street, Wilmington, with Pastor Troy Roush officiating. Interment will follow in the Martinsville IOOF Cemetery, where the Wilmington American Legion Post 49 Honor Squad will accord full military honors.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
