Cecil William Campbell, 93, of Columbus, died Monday morning, September 28, 2009 at Columbus West Park Nursing Center.
He was born August 12, 1916, in Penn Township in Highland County, a son of the late Paul Starling and Mary Cora (Wallace) Campbell.
He graduated from Penn Township High School in Samantha in 1934. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in April 1955 and served as an Elder in both the Westgate and Hilltop congregations. He had worked for B & T Metals Company for twenty-eight years and retired as a property manager for Bancohio National Bank in 1980.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Rita (Mayo) Campbell, of Columbus; a son, Michael Campbell and his wife Toni of The Woodlands, Texas; and two grandchildren, Michael W. Campbell II of Conroe, Texas and Brittany (Dustin) Woolbright of Spring, Texas, as well as four step-children and their children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-seven years, Mildred A. (Goins) Campbell, on September 29, 1981, and a brother, Vernon Paul Campbell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1401 Brown Road, Columbus. Mike Toney will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery in Highland County. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall.
