Cameron Steven James Peters

Cameron Steven James Peters, 14, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Dec. 21, 2010 in Wilmington, the son of Matthew and Rebecca (McIntosh) Peters.

Cameron was in the eighth grade at Lynchburg-Clay Middle School, where he enjoyed playing the saxophone in their marching band. Those who knew Cameron best will remember his love for music. He found comfort and expression in the rhythms and melodies of bands like Linkin Park and Papa Roach. This passion was not merely reserved for listening, as he also had a remarkable talent for writing music, often incorporating the Hard Rock style that he so loved. Cameron's intelligence shone brightly in his diverse interests. He independently taught himself morse code, the Navajo language, and the acoustic guitar, showcasing his passion for learning and his restless curiosity. This enthusiasm for knowledge was about to take him on a new adventure, as he was enrolled to start classes at Southern State Community College in the following year.

He is survived by his parents, Matthew and Rebecca Peters; four brothers, Robbie McIntosh, Jayden Peters, Ryan Peters and Leland Peters; maternal grandmother, Charlene Branham; paternal grandmother, Nanette Fukaczewski; paternal grandfather, Douglas Adkins; an aunt, Natalie (Trevor Graham) Adkins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Branham.

A celebration of Cameron’s life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family. To leave the family an online condolence, please visit www.turnerfuneralhomes.cc.
