Betty Louise Barber
Betty Louise Barber, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday April 29, 2024, at Legacy of Hillsboro.
She was born Feb. 21, 1942 in Canton, the daughter of the late William Prater.
Betty worked as a nurse’s aide for many years at Heartland of Hillsboro, Oakland Nursing Home in Hillsboro, and Highland District Hospital.
She enjoyed making flower arrangements for all occasions, cooking, and she had a true passion for taking care of her family and loved ones. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed fishing and bowling at the local lanes. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Betty is survived by three children, Anna (Richard) Vilvens of Lynchburg, Ray (Glenna) Purdin of Hillsboro and Louise Mootz of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, April (Ryan) McBrayer, Amber (Chuck Allen) Moon, Amy Moon, Andrea (Scott Barber) Moon, Kristi (Chris Holden) Franz, Travis (Tinisha DeLong) Purdin and Zebulun (Kyle Norton) Purdin; 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; five siblings, Barb Carlson of Sabina, Nancy Adkins of Marshall, Bonnie Prater of Hillsboro, Sandra Prater of Hillsboro and Dave (Debbie) Prater of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Janet Prater; her aunt and uncle who helped raise her, LG and Anna Borden; and two siblings, Peg Shaul and Ted Prater.
