Betty Lou Williams, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. 

She was born June 30, 1929, in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Hudson) Woolard. 

Betty worked for over 35 years as a secretary for Hillsboro High School, and she was a lifetime member of the Junior Mothers Club. She enjoyed crafting, cross stitching, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and her dogs. She loved her family, and she will be greatly missed. 

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jon) Young of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Shawna (Kenny) McGuire of Lynchburg, Matthew (Kayla) Young of Samantha and Megan (Kip) Shoemaker of Leesburg; and four great-grandchildren, Abigail McGuire, Breanne McGuire, Holland Shoemaker and Quinn Shoemaker. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Williams, on July 5, 1986; and her son, David Williams, on March 26, 2011. 

Visitation will be noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, April 28 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place following visitation at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the High Top Cemetery in Samantha.
