Betty Lee (Haynes) Gillespie

Betty Lee (Haynes) Gillespie, 95, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024 at Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Frankfort.  
 
She was born Feb. 19, 1929 in Bainbridge, the daughter of John Eyler and Mabel Maydean (Duffield) Haynes.  
 
Betty was a graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and a former employee of the U.S. Shoe Factory in Greenfield.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Janean Brown of Hillsboro; one son, John (Catherine) Gillespie of Jupiter, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kenneth William (Kathy Jo) of New Holland, Keith (Carrol) Brown of Bainbridge, Jennifer (Andrew) Benson of Hillsboro, Zachary Adam Macik of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., John (Amanda) Gillespie of Jupiter, Fla. and Nicole Catherine Gillespie of Jupiter, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob Brown, Jayden Brown, Joshua Brown, Joseph Brown, Cayli (Tyler) Rowe, Nicole Benson, Drew Benson, Luke Benson, Ivy and Enzo Gillespie; and three great-great-grandchildren, Ty, Cayne and Jocee Rowe.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gillespie, on June 22, 2015; three daughters, Janice Mae Gillespie, Janet Lou Gillespie and Anita Dean Macik; one grandson, John Matthew Brown; one brother, John Haynes; one sister, Doris Wilson; one son-in-law, John Brown; and both parents.
 
Funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Mark Current officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
