Betty Ellen (Dotson) Blanton

Betty Ellen (Dotson) Blanton of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024.

She was born July 20, 1932 in Ross County, to Charles O. and Edna M. (Wilburn) Dotson.

On March 20, 1956, she was married to Russell Blanton, and together they had a daughter, Joy Elaine (Blanton) Gilliland.

One of Betty's greatest joys was serving the Bainbridge community on the Fall Festival of Leaves Committee, where she served for several years as the chairman. She enjoyed this along with a very dear friend, now deceased, Loraine Granger.

Betty attended the Bainbridge Methodist Church before her declining health prevented her from doing so. She loved God and in her final days expressed her desire to go be with Him in heaven. Betty deeply loved her family and always greeted them with a hug, kiss and I love you. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Betty is survived by a large family who loved her very much. A grandson, Rusty Penwell and his wife, Bobbie Penwell. Also surviving are special great-grandchildren, Asher E. Park and Rebecca E. Shepherd; stepson, Barry Blanton; sisters, Phyllis Hollon, Gwen (Roger) Hinshaw, Terry (Bill) Minney, Debbie (Rodney) VanGundy, Melody (Wally) Benner, Crystal (Jeff) Cooper and Candy (Dan) Oyer; and a brother, Charles Jr. “Chuck” (Carlann) Dotson. She also leaves behind a large number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, husband and daughter, Betty was predeceased by two stepchildren, Carol Orians and Jerry Blanton; her brothers, Gordon Dotson and Marlyn Dotson and his wife Goldie; stepmother, Mary Dotson; sisters, Barbara Dotson and Peggy Mendenhall and her husband George.
