Bessie Ann Prickett Aber

Bessie Ann Prickett Aber, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital.

She was born the twin daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Dallas Haley Teegarden on Jan. 23, 1936 in Bracken County, Ky.

Years ago, Bessie attended the Leesburg Friends Church, and in recent years she was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Bessie worked several jobs, including the Hillsboro Pants Factory and Robertshaw, before her eventual retirement from Johnson Controls.

She enjoyed baking, family time, puzzles and traveling in her RV. Bessie had a special place in her heart for her beloved cats. One of Bessie’s favorite things was to listen to bluegrass and gospel music, and she loved attending bluegrass music festivals.

Bessie is survived by her nieces and nephews, Darrel E. Roades of Lynchburg, Jerri L. (William B.) Stewart of Winchester, Kirk D. Roades of Xenia, William J. Davis of Milford and additional nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other family members from Bessie’s late husband Gene’s family.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald K. Prickett Jr; second husband, Gene P. Aber; her twin sister, Jessie Sue (Herbert) Roades; brothers, Harold and Nelson Teegarden; half-sister, Anna Bruist; foster brother, Lee V. Roades; and nieces, Beverly Jo Davis and Athena Roades.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at New Antioch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland County Senior Citizens Center, 185 Muntz St, Hillsboro Ohio 45133.
