Benjamin R. Murphy

Benjamin R. Murphy, 71, of Washington Court House, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at his home. 

He was born Feb. 16, 1953 in Carmel, the son of the late John and Emma Elizabeth Gibson Murphy. 

Benny had worked as a casual laborer his entire life. 

He is survived by one daughter, Tonya (Paul) Cregar of Washington Court House; one son, Benny (Audrey Tolle) Murphy of Greenfield; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Wallace (Connie) Murphy of Hillsboro; one sister-in-law, Melody Lawwill of Washington Court House; and one brother-in-law, Jeff Lawwill of Washington Court House. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina “Tiny” Murphy, on Feb. 19, 2014; his father, John Murphy; his mother, Emma Elizabeth Gibson Murphy Taylor; one son, Brian Murphy; four brothers, Russell, John, Ronald and Norman “Gene” Murphy; and three sisters, Ruth Schaeffer, Sue Watkins and Molly Thompson. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Troutwine Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
