Barbara Ruth Knechtly Snyder
Barbara Ruth Knechtly Snyder passed away April 29, 2024, surrounded by family.
Barbara was born Aug. 11, 1933 in Locust Grove to parents Cornelius Glenn and Mary Grace (Copeland) Knechtly.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School, class of 1951. She worked in many jobs but enjoyed being a waitress, home caregiver and babysitter. She loved planting and tending her flowers and putting up decorations for holidays. She was known for her kindness and willingness to help her friends and neighbors. She loved being with her family, great-great-grandchildren and her favorite dog Lacy.
She is survived by her children, a son, Larry Dean Barrera, and daughter, Dianna Lynn (James) Shaper; grandchildren, Lauren and Lindsey Barrera, Nancy Fender and James Shaper Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn (Devin) Liming, Jamie Shaper, Jonathon Fender, Riley James Shaper and Angela (Matt) Schmittel; great-great-grandchildren, Dominic Paislee, Arta Lynn Liming and Madison Schmittel; brother, John Knechtly; sister, Ora Mae Smith; and family friend, Carolyn Harris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Eugene Knechtly; and sisters, Betty Lee Bobb and Linda Ann Young.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday, May 3, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of service at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
