Barbara L. Carter

Barbara L. Carter, 92, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at Legacy of Hillsboro.  

She was born March 11, 1931 in Middletown, the daughter of the late John and Mattie (Phipps) Carter.  

She was a member of the Middletown High School class of 1949 and had retired from the Cincinnati Department of Mental Health after many years of service.  

She is survived by three nieces, Shirley Goecke of Dayton, Donna Murray of Michigan and Gretchen Cundiff of Middletown; and three nephews, Ervin Dale Carter of Hamilton, Robert Brownell of Indiana and Darryl Carter of Middletown.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by special friend and former spouse, Lamar Beatty; three brothers, Ray Carter, Ervin Carter and Herbert Carter; and four sisters, Mary Brownell, Lona Wilson, Juanita Smith and Chloe Carter.  

Visitation for Barbara will be Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service that will begin at noon at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery in Middletown.
