Barbara (Borst) Wheaton

Barbara (Borst) Wheaton, 91, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023, at her home, following a brief illness.

She was born July 11, 1931 in Bainbridge to the late Samuel C. and Elva M. (Grove) Borst.
 
On May 15, 1968, she married Willard Dean Wheaton, who passed away Aug. 15, 2002.

Barb retired from Paint Valley Local Schools, where she taught for 25 years. She enjoyed puzzles, reading and bird watching, as well as playing bridge, Scrabble and 500 rummy. Barb was also a member of the Bainbridge United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Derrell (Debby) Smith, Kyle (Ellen) Smith, Matthew (Mary) Smith and Evan Wheaton; grandchildren, Willy Wheaton, Nicholas Riehle and April, Brian and Shannon Smith; and great-grandchildren, Corbin, Harper and Penelope.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Williams; granddaughter, Brandy Riehle; and a brother, Wayne Borst.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge with Pastor Matt Brookes officiating. Following the service, Barb will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter in the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Church Residences Hospice, 2245 North Bank Drive, Columbus 43220.
