Arvil Lee Tackett

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arvil Lee Tackett, 89, of Hillsboro, who left this world peacefully on May 22, 2025 with his family by his side. 

He was born Aug. 5, 1935 in Floyd County, Ky., the son of the late James and Emily (Robinson) Tackett. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Richard Tackett, Ellis Ray Tackett and Thomas Edward Tackett; a sister, Rosemary Benson; and many special friends.

Arvil dedicated over 25 years of his life to Highco in Hillsboro, where his work ethic and dedication were admired by friends alike. As a man of few words, he communicated volumes through his radiant smile, which could light up any room. Arvil had an innate ability to love deeply and unconditionally, embracing everyone he met with open arms and a compassionate heart. He showed this love in numerous ways, from volunteering at the Humane Society to spending his time and talents at Stephanie's Pet Spa, all while never seeking the spotlight for himself.

In his quiet moments, Arvil found joy in creating – whether it was stringing beads, painting or drawing. His artistic endeavors brought happiness not only to himself but also to those who were fortunate to receive his handmade gifts. A true friend to all, Arvil never judged others and lived his life with humility, seeking little in return for the abundance of love he gave.

Arvil is survived by his loving siblings, sister, Carol Chapman; brother, Billy (Jackie) Tackett; and sister, Emma Jean Konkle; as well as his sister-in-law, Dorothy Tackett; special friends, Val, Darlene, Ben, Cathy, Katie, Emmy, Layne and Highco Staff; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. They, along with all who knew him, will carry on his legacy of compassion and warmth.

Friends and family are invited to visitation at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, on Tuesday, May 27 from noon-2 p.m.

Funeral service celebrating his life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the funeral home.

A graveside service will take place at Rockwell Cemetery on June 5 at 1 p.m.
