Arnold James 'Shorty' Myers
Arnold James “Shorty” Myers, 84, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024 at Court House Manor.
He was born Nov. 26, 1939 in Greenfield, the son of Arthur and Virginia (Shiltz) Myers.
He was a 1958 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He retired from Greenfield Printing and Publishing after 36 years of employment and was a former employee of McMullen Trucking. After retirement, he worked part time at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home.
Shorty was a McClain Tiger Boosters Hall of Fame Inductee and coached for years in little league baseball and basketball, as well as eighth grade basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne (Zickafoose) Myers whom he married March 24, 1963; one son, Brian Patrick Myers (Erica) of Greenfield; three grandsons, Cameron (Tara) Myers of Circleville, Reid (Halie) Myers of Kingston and Tate (Brooke) Myers of Chillicothe; one great-granddaughter, Hadlee; two brothers, Delbert (Marilyn) Mitchell of Greenfield and Billy Mitchell of Bainbridge; several nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Georgia Roush of Washington C.H.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Joanne Gregory; and both parents.
Cremation will take place, and a memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Scott Wise officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
