Anna J. Newman

Anna J. Newman, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 2, 2023 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.

She was born March 30, 1937 in Clinton County, the daughter of the late John Rhoads and Carrie Inez (Davidson) Rhoads.

Mrs. Newman worked at Candle-lite and Irwin Auger Bit Company for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Edwin, and she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Anna is survived by three children, Kathy Grazilla of Hillsboro, Nancy (Rick) Miller of Leesburg and Edwin “Eddie” (Sherry) Newman Jr. of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Grazilla, Zachary (Morgan) Grazilla, Chris (Danyelle) Miller, Amy (Bobby) Schott, Teal (Larry) McFerron, Edwin Newman III and Emily Newman; seven great-grandchildren, Riley, Monroe, Kyle, Ava, Joey, Jadyn and Jiraiya; a brother, Bill Rhoads; second husband, Gerald “Jerry” Cline; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Newman Sr., in 1988; a great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Bean; son-in-law, Robert “Rocky” Grazilla; five brothers, Paul Rhoads, Howard Rhoads, John Rhoads Jr., Robert Rhoads and Charles Rhoads; four sisters, Mary Young, Flossie Henson, Dorothy Coleman and Norma Stafford; and two stepsisters, Hazel and Helen.

Private burial will take place in the Resthaven Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anna’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
