Alexander “Alex” Devin Barber
Alexander “Alex” Devin Barber, 22, of Lynchburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 24, 2025 at his home.
He was born July 13, 2002 in Wilmington, the son of Tony and Bobbi Barber.
Alex was a 2020 graduate from Lynchburg-Clay High School and had worked at R+L Carriers for a little over a year. Alex was a man of many talents, but it was his love for sports that was most prominent. His enthusiasm for the game, whether he was on the field or cheering from the stands, was infectious. His sporting spirit often filled the room, making him the heart of any sporting occasion. Alex was not only remembered for his love of sports, but he was also a beacon of kindness and love. His departure has left a void in the hearts of family and friends, but they are comforted by the memories of his kind and loving spirit. The legacy of Alex will be remembered, his love for sports will inspire, and his kindness will continue to comfort.
Alex is survived by his parents, Tony and Bobbi Barber of Lynchburg; his sister, Ella Barber of Lynchburg; maternal grandparents, Bill and Debbie Ison of Hillsboro; paternal grandmother, Charlene Barber of St. Martin; aunts and uncles, Kathy (Lou Groen) Minton of Lynchburg, Jami (Randy) Smart of New Vienna, Marsha (Erick) Schmeltz of Florence, Kentucky, Jason (Karie) Barber of Lynchburg, Craig (Krystal) Barber of North Carolina, and numerous cousins and friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Larry Barber; and his maternal great-grandmother, Beaulah Gregory.
