Winter weather advisory issued for March 2; rainy week ahead

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for March 2 beginning at 4 a.m. for Highland and surrounding counties.

Mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches, with isolated higher amounts. Ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible.

The advisory area includes portions of southeast Indiana, northern Kentucky, and south central and southwest Ohio.

Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

Monday – Rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 2pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and sleet after 4pm. High near 40. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday Night – Rain and sleet likely before 7pm, then rain. Low around 37. East wind around 6 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Tuesday – Rain. High near 58. South wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
