Wilmington OSHP Post investigating two-vehicle fatal crash

WILMINGTON – The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash. The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m. Feb. 24 on Interstate 71 near Mile Post 52 in Liberty Township, Clinton County. 

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Jaguar XJ operated by a Mr. Jason Fisher, age 50, of Logan, Ohio, was traveling southwest on Interstate 71. Mr. Fisher struck the rear of a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a Mr. George Cunningham, of Louisville, Kentucky. The commercial vehicle was stopped in traffic for a prior crash located near Mile Post 48 on Interstate 71 southbound. 

Mr. Fisher was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Port William Fire and EMS, and the Clinton County Coroner’s Office. 

This crash remains under investigation by the Wilmington Patrol Post.
