Second District Congressman Brad Wenstrup commented on Donald J. Trump's announcement that he had selected Mike Pence, governor of Indiana, as his vice presidential running mate:

"Governor Pence represents the principles and values of conservatives, and he is an excellent choice to help the Republican ticket lead our nation and party to a brighter future," Wenstrup said.

"He has an established conservative record as governor, and has stood up for the core values of our party, qualities which are essential to guide our country in these trying times. We can now focus on uniting conservatives over the coming months to defeat Hillary Clinton."

Wenstrup is running for re-election in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District, which encompasses all or parts of eight counties in southern and southwestern Ohio. Wenstrup was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012. Wenstrup is also an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve serving as a lieutenant colonel.
