Families lined the streets and sidewalks of uptown Hillsboro Saturday night for the annual Hillsboro Uptown Business Association (HUBA) Christmas parade.

HUBA switched this year’s parade from its usual afternoon format to an illuminated parade, and crowds packed Main and High streets in uptown Hillsboro to enjoy the unseasonably warm temperatures.

The “Silver Bells Christmas” parade included many community organizations, such as the Lions Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Highland County Historical Society and the Highland County Senior Center. Churches and local businesses also entered floats in the parade.

One of the most popular parade entries was a Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire engine with Christmas lights timed to “Carol of the Bells” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Crowds also enjoyed a performance by the Hillsboro High School marching band to open the parade.

Santa Claus also made a special appearance in the parade, accompanied by elves and other friends.
