Walter West honored with 50 years of dedication, service to the American Legion, Mowrystown Post 694

Walter A. West was recently honored with 50 years of dedication and service to the American Legion, Mowrystown Post 694.

Mr. West entered the service in 1953 and spent eight years in duty with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the U.S. Weather Service and 31st Weather Squadron in Germany.

Mr. West was also stationed at Lockbourne, in Columbus and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton.

He retired as a superintendent at the Ohio Department of Transportation and resides in Hillsboro where he continues to be active on his family's farm.

When asked what he enjoys the most about being a member of the American Legion, he replied, "Being a part of the Mowrystown Memorial Day Parade," where he attends yearly with his family.

Mr. West was presented with the award by Charles "Chuck" Emery, Mowrystown Post 694 Commander and a Vietnam War veteran.
