Volunteer Al Martellotti receives FiveYear Service Award from HCSO

Highland County Sheriff Ronald D. Ward congratulates Al Martellotti for his five years of volunteer service with the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.

Al retired from teaching several years ago and approached Sheriff Ward about doing volunteer work at the Highland County Sheriff’s Office. Al currently volunteers his assistance to the Corrections Division of the Highland County Sheriff’s Office during times of inmate visitation, facilitated the layout and printing of the Highland County Justice Center Informational Flyer, and has made procedural recommendations that have saved the correctional staff valuable time and the county money. 

"Al’s unique mixture of kindness and sternness when dealing with the inmates and their visitors creates a rewarding experience for all," Ward said. "Al’s dedication and personal drive to make visitation times enjoyable for the inmates have decreased stress related jail incidents at the Justice Center. I know what kind of positive impact he made on my life when I was one of his students in high school and I know the same could be said for the inmates that Al deals with as a volunteer at the Sheriff’s Office. He truly is a one of a kind human being that cares for the people he comes in contact with."
