Veterans Service Commission honors Joe W. Thompson

After attending well over 200 board meetings, mandated conferences and special events for the Highland County Veterans Service Commission, Mr. Joe W. Thompson of American Legion Post 129, Hillsboro, attended his final official Commission meeting as a board member on Dec. 19, 2014.

The VSC honored Mr. Thompson for his years of service.

Highland County Veterans Service Commission President C. Ray Alexander of AmVets Post 61, Hillsboro, presented Mr. Thompson with a plaque in recognition and appreciation for his 10 years of service to the veterans of Highland County.

At-Large Board Member Gary Smaltz of the DAV Lloyd C. Ludwick Chapter 123 presented Mr. Thompson with a special "Kneeling Soldier" statue as a token of appreciation from the other HCVSC Board Members and Veteran Service Staff members.
