Two arrested in Hillsboro marijuana grow operation

At approximately 6:40 p.m., officers from the Hillsboro Police Department went to a residence in the 500 block of South East Street in reference to information obtained that a possible marijuana grow operation was taking place at the residence.
Upon investigation, officers made contact with a female, and while officers were speaking to her, a male was discovered in the basement attempting to destroy the marijuana plants and hide evidence.
The Hillsboro Police Department took into evidence a small amount of marijuana plants, grow lights, chemicals, digital scales, an air ventilation system and several other items related to growing marijuana.
The male was identified as Jeremy R. Striley, 29, of Hillsboro, and he was arrested for tapering with evidence, a felony of the third degree; possession of criminal tools, a misdemeanor of the first degree; and illegal cultivating of marijuana, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.
The female was identified as Alexis Osborne, 22, of Hillsboro, and she was arrested for obstructing official business, a misdemeanor of the second degree.
Both Striley and Osborne will appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court on March 22 at 8 a.m. for their arraignment.
