Two arrested in connection with alleged meth lab

Two Paint Township residents were arrested over the weekend after deputies with the Highland County Sheriff's Office discovered two alleged meth labs while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on unrelated charges. 

 

According to a release from the HCSO, on Saturday, Dec. 31, during the late evening hours, detectives and deputies discovered two meth labs in Paint Township of Highland County. The discovery was made after deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant and Civil Protection Order at a Paint Township residence. 

 

"Upon making contact with the occupant, a strong chemical odor was detected," according to the HCSO. "The residence was secured, and items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine were located. Upon further investigation, a second residence was found to be connected to this activity, as well. A search of the second residence, also located in Paint Township, yielded additional items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine. In addition to the items used to manufacture meth, a small amount of what was believed to be finished product (meth) was also discovered during the search, as well as drug paraphernalia. An environmental cleanup crew was called to the scene in order to dispose of the hazardous materials connected to the meth lab." 

 

Additional items of evidence will be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation Crime Lab in London, Ohio for analysis. 

 

Deputies arrested Melinda A. Adams, 32, of Paint Township, and Dallas P. Clark, 32, also of Paint Township. Both were charged with illegal assembly of chemical a felony of the third degree. 

 

The case will also be forwarded to Highland County Prosecuting Attorney Anneka P. Collins Office, where it is anticipated the cases will be presented to an upcoming session of a grand jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court, where additional charges are possible. 

 

Both individuals are currently being held on probation violations out of Hillsboro Municipal Court, each having a $70,000 bond.
