Suspect in felonious assault case taken into custody

The suspect wanted in a felonious assault in the stabbing of a female on Aug. 14 has been taken into custody.
On Aug. 15 at 11:45 a.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen reporting an individual walking along US 62 south of Swamp Rd. in Concord Township. Deputies were dispatched to the area to check the report and found a male walking southbound along US 62. Upon positive identification of the suspect, Jeffrey L. Armstrong, 46, was taken into custody without incident. Armstrong was transported to the Highland County Justice Center, where his bond was set at $100,000 on the felonious assault charge pending his appearance in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 8 a.m.

Detectives are in the process of preparing search warrants for the bodily fluids and clothing as part of the investigation into this incident. The case will be presented to the Highland County Prosecutor's Office, where the case will be presented to an upcoming session of the Highland County Grand Jury.

As previously reported in the Highland County Press, the Highland County Sheriff's Office was called to the 5000 block of Sorg Road at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 for a reported stabbing.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 29-year-old female victim with multiple stab wounds to the upper torso face and head. The victim, although suffering from stab wounds, was alert and talking to investigators while being removed from the scene.
