Strawmyer joins Army Recruiting Center

Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Strawmyer recently joined the U.S. Army Indianapolis Recruiting Battalion’s Central Illinois Recruiting Company as a detailed recruiter with the Champaign Recruiting Center, Champaign, Ill.
Strawmyer comes to the Champaign Recruiting Center from Yongsan, Korea and the First Signal Brigade, where he had been serving since 2013 as an information technology specialist. He has also performed the duties of information technology specialist at the following locations: at Fort Gordon, Ga., with the 44Second Signal Battalion, in Afghanistan with the First Combined Joint Task Force; at Camp Hovey, Korea, with the Second Infantry Division, First HBCT; and at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., with the 40th Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade.

Strawmyer’s military awards include: five Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Driver and Mechanic Badge, the Marksmanship Qualification Badge- Sharpshooter and the Recruiter Badge.
He is a 1998 graduate of Hillsboro High School.
