After an outstanding opening performance Friday evening, SSCC Theatre will present William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, and at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Central Campus of Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

The Sunday, July 27, performance of “Macbeth” will feature American Sign Language interpretation.

Macbeth, a brave Scottish general (played by Benjamin Gullett), receives a prophecy from a trio of witches (Paula Campagna, Madison Hatfield, Micaela Countryman) that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife (Stormi Bledsoe), Macbeth murders the king and takes the throne for himself.

His reign is racked with guilt and paranoia, and he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler as he is forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion. The bloodbath swiftly takes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into realms of arrogance, madness, and death.

“Macbeth” features the acting talents of Bob Brown, Raymond Darnell, Jon Davidson, Jarrett Fittro, Donald Gehres, Paij Griffith, Aidan Holmes, Leslie Holmes, Adam Hoover, Jeff Horick, Bronwyn Jones, Bryan Kessinger, Quinn Pickering-Polstra, Elizabeth Proffitt, Colin Ryan, John Scott, Eric Silcott, Elijah Sprague, Owen Stanton, Matthew Waits, Terry Washburn, and Masen Woodall.

“Macbeth” is directed by Rainee Angles, with production design by Rainee Angles and Abraham Martin, sound design by Benjamin Gullett, and costume design by Laura Martin. Fulfilling other crew positions are Brent Angles, Charlotte Brown, D.J. Griffith, Melissa Griffith, and Heather Washburn.
