BAINBRIDGE – Work by five nationally-recognized Ohio artists will be on view and on sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the Highlands Nature Sanctuary’s Appalachian Forest Museum, 7660 Cave Road, Bainbridge.

The show culminates the Sanctuary’s 2016 Artist-in-Residence program. Artists taking part in this year’s three-week program are Fred Fochtman of Columbus; Jason Clary of Cincinnati; Jim Glover of Worthington, Cory Heichel of Columbus; and Karen LaValley of Springfield.

Charlotte Stiverson, an organizer of the residency, said the Nature Sanctuary takes no commission on the artists’ work, so prices are often lower than those at commercial galleries. The show will provide a chance to meet the artists, and light refreshments will be served. No reservation is needed.

The Highlands Nature Sanctuary, site of the Appalachian Forest Museum and three developed hiking trails, encompasses the former Seven Caves nature theme park and 2,140 additional wooded acres above the Rocky Fork Gorge near Bainbridge, Ohio. The Sanctuary is one of 15 preserves owned or operated by non-profit Arc of Appalachia. Arc of Appalachia aims to protect a chain of ecologically and archeologically important forested sites in the Appalachian foothills, including several significant Native American earthworks. Currently stewarding 5,134 acres, Arc of Appalachia now hopes to expand its preserves in 2016 by purchasing an additional 861 acres at six separate sites.
